Tang Lan graduated with a bachelor's degree in Digital Performance from the Shanghai School of Design, China Academy of Fine Arts in June 2021. In January 2023, she obtained a master's degree in Pure Arts from Chelsea College, University of the Arts London, and obtained a first-class honorary degree.

Tang Lan is a multidisciplinary artist engaged in cross media artistic practice, including sound, installation, experimental theater, and painting art. Her works often combine philosophical ideas with psychoanalytic theories to construct a channel between the real world and the spiritual world. She is currently focused on sound art practice, exploring the physical nature of sound and how it exerts energy in consciousness and influences reality from the perspective of sound ontology. Her voice art works are mostly specific field installations, hoping to achieve deep listening effects in a ceremonial way, emphasizing the interaction between the location, audience, and the work.

Tang Lan also engages in experimental music arrangement and collaborates with multiple theater works both domestically and internationally as part of her voice research.
