EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND POLICIES

Students majoring in contemporary painting should have a solid theoretical knowledge of humanities and social sciences after four years of study. With contemporary, artistic, and experimental as the premise, they should systematically learn and master the historical context of contemporary art in both the East and the West, as well as the understanding of Eastern and Western philosophy and culture. They should also comprehend the comprehensive expression of materials, media, and skills, as well as the academic ability to compare and discuss Chinese culture and national spirit with other cultural resources. Actively creating thematic works in national development and construction; Actively exploring ways to connect material language with innovation and entrepreneurship, participating in the revitalization of regional economy with creativity and imagination to expand artistic space, and comprehensively utilizing rich texture and visual material elements to explore the path of artistic freedom of expression. Graduates of this major must have at least a certain level of mastery of the language rules of painting, understand and be familiar with the history of modern and contemporary visual arts in both the East and the West, and be particularly proficient in the history of modern and contemporary painting art. They should also have a certain level of painting foundation and creative ability.

TEACHING AND RESEARCH SECTION

The contemporary painting direction of the contemporary painting major is characterized by contemporaneity, artistry, and experimentation, exploring the multiple possibilities of painting in the context of today's era. We use painting as the main means of expression, originating from the historical context of contemporary art, and it is also the most vibrant academic direction for traditional painting majors to enter a new historical context. The direction of contemporary painting is based on the traditional context of Chinese and Western painting, combined with the development direction of current art trends, with concepts as the core of artistic expression, exploring new developments, new fields, and new directions of painting, showcasing the characteristics of new ideas, new media, and new methods. Our ultimate goal is to cultivate contemporary artists with synchronous development in academic, creative, and research abilities.

CHARACTERISTIC COURSE

The public art major implements the urban renewal strategy and rural revitalization strategy under the construction goal of "Beautiful China", promotes urban renewal with an international perspective, assists rural revitalization, and empowers social aesthetic education. The professional teaching positioning of "social intervention, project-based, and research-based" was first proposed, forming a construction goal led by characteristic majors. The Public Art major fully leverages the educational functions of the summer "Three Visits to the Countryside" and "Second Classroom" social practice courses, guiding students to love their hometown and people, participate in local cultural construction, carry out folk art research and practice activities, increase the knowledge and humanities of the courses, enhance their leading, contemporary, and open mindedness, and broaden their horizons.

​There are a total of 13 professional teachers in the teaching and research department, including 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 7 lecturers, and 3 teaching assistants. There is also 1 doctoral degree holder and 2 current doctoral students. Additionally, there is a long-term foreign expert workshop called Professor Sun Haili's Foreign Expert Workshop. A high-quality professional teacher team with both moral and physical abilities, as well as a reasonable age structure, has been formed, providing strong support for professional teaching and talent cultivation

CELEBRITY TRAINING PROGRAM
